Convention season is upon us and what better way is there to accessorize than with our favorite anime characters!? This little pouch was inspired by Bleach, one of my all time favorite animes. It's fits easily into most bags making it perfect to carry as an emergency costume kit. It also great for as a unique pouch for carrying smaller school supplies. Don't feel you have to be limited to only this character! Use this tutorial as a starting point for making a pouch of your favorite character!
For this project we'll need the following:
Golden yellow fleece,
black felt,
brown felt,
tan felt,
pink felt,
black embroidery floss,
coordinating zipper and thread,
(optional) lining - I used a thin cotton fabric

1. Here's a diagram of all of the pieces you will need to create the outer shell of the zipper pouch.
2. Take the two identical halves of the front and sew right sides together along the straight edge.
3. Attach your zipper along the straight sides of the two back pieces.
4. Get the proper placement of all the face pieces.
5. Hand or machine stitch all the face pieces down. I also created eyebrows with a simple backstitch and embroidery floss.
6. Align the pink ear pieces to the yellow ear pieces and sew down.
7. Attach the back ear pieces to the front ear pieces by sewing right sides together. Leave the bottom edge open while sewing to flip right sides out.
8. Sew the six mane pieces into pairs leaving the bottom edge open to flip right side out.
9. Sew the mane and ear pieces to the face of the pouch right sides together.
10. Place the back right sides together with the face and sew. Be sure to leave the zipper open to flip right sides out.
11. Trim the seam allowance down to reduce bulk. Flip right sides out. At this point you can leave it as is or you can continue on to add a lining.
12. Sew the lining together the same way as before leaving the zipper portion unsewn. Iron the zipper seam allowance open and trim the seam allowance.
13. Place the lining into the pouch wrong sides together.
14. Flip the entire pouch back out and hand sew the lining using the slipstitch.
